Van Roy–Roig Duo
The Van Roy–Roig Duo grew out of the artistic partnership between soprano Cristina Van Roy and pianist Joan Roig, united by a deep musical rapport and a shared approach to chamber music.
Their work is built on the synergy between voice and piano: two instruments that listen, breathe and engage in dialogue to shape a single musical discourse. Their close understanding allows them to achieve a balanced sound in which words, the vocal line and the piano each take centre stage and enrich one another.
With a particular dedication to lyric repertoire and Lied, the duo combines interpretative sensitivity with stylistic rigour, seeking direct and intimate communication with the audience in every recital.
Repertoire and music from the Balearic Islands
The Van Roy–Roig Duo’s repertoire ranges from major composers of the European vocal tradition to contemporary works, with a special focus on music from the Balearic Islands.
Performing and promoting works by local composers is an essential part of their artistic identity. The duo has devoted particular attention to the music of Balearic composer Josep Prohens, as well as pieces by Margarida Orfila Tudurí, incorporating music from the islands into their programmes alongside the major lyric and chamber repertoire.
This combination of universal repertoire and their own musical heritage enables the duo to create recitals with a distinctive identity, conceived for a variety of venues, festivals, foundations and chamber-music series.
Programmes
The Van Roy–Roig Duo presents carefully constructed recitals centred on a musical concept, a period, a composer or a theme.
Among their programmes are:
Voice and Piano: Mozart, Bellini and Prohens

Ave Femina: Divine and Human
The figure of woman across different periods and musical languages.
Romantic and Catalan Lied
